In 2024 we proudly earned the Rights Respecting Schools silver award.
What is Rights Respecting Schools?
‘Together young people and the school community learn about children’s rights, putting them into practice every day. The Award is not just about what children do but also, importantly, what adults do. In Rights Respecting Schools children’s rights are promoted and realised, adults and children work towards this goal together.’, UNICEF Website, 2025
How has Rights Respecting schools impacted us?
As a Rights Respecting School we have committed to teaching our children about rights, encouraging them to be citizens of the future who are empowered to live an enriched and fulfilled life.
Rights are learnt about through collective worship and across some aspects of the curriculum.
We have committed to taking part in a courageous advocacy project in each year group each year, giving children a voice to understand they can make a change using the rights they have.
Our child led groups are empowered to exercise their rights and make a change. With an ethos that always asks the child ‘what will you do’ and our commitment to service we always look to empower the children and believe our achievement in silver Rights Respecting Schools shows we are on our journey to doing this.
