All of our Key Stage 2 children took part in workshops based on Drowning Prevention and the children learnt about the main aspects of water safety:
- the meaning of various flags on beaches, e.g. red and yellow flag shows where it is safe to swim
- how to help someone if they are unable to get out of the water and are at risk of drowning
- ways to remain afloat in the water until help comes along
These workshops were led by members of the Swim Team from the Marina Centre, in conjunction with the Royal Lifesaving Society.
Rania said, “I feel more confident about how to stay safe in the water now.”
Emilis stated, “It is important to learn this as we live near a beach and a river.”
